Rachel Gayle (Lothridge) Cutter, age 58 of Batesville, Indiana passed away at home on September 29, 2015. Rachel was born December 19, 1956 in Madison, IN, the daughter of Keith and Edith (Miles) Lothridge. She married Eldon R. Cutter on September 28, 1974 and they were blessed with three children. Rachel was a member of the St. Peters Lutheran Church (Bear Branch) in Ohio County, Indiana. Rachel graduated from Switzerland County High School and IVY Tech Community College in 2014 receiving an Associate Degree in Human Services. Rachel was employed by Corizon/Indiana Minority Health Coalition serving as the Parole Re-Entry Liaison for 10 southeastern counties. She was very passionate about social justice and human services. She worked for several organizations including Safe Passage and Community Mental Health. She was also a board member of the Open Door non-profit organization. Rachel was committed to helping others and was a strong supporter of domestic violence prevention and intervention. Rachel was well respected by both her co-workers and clients with her teaching, counseling, knowledge, and intervention skills and techniques. Rachel enjoyed spending time with her family, loved dogs, listening to music, and reading. She also enjoyed "porch-sitting" and sweet tea. She was a free-spirit with a country heart. She was an excellent cook. Rachel will be missed by her husband, Eldon Cutter; her three children: Regina (James) Edwards of Walton, KY, Jakob Cutter of Davenport, FL, and Adam Cutter of New Point, IN; her grandson: Dillon Edwards; her step-grandchildren: Patrick and Amanda Edwards; her sister Diane (Alan) Jones of Palmetto, FL; her father-in-law: Marvin H. Cutter of Dillsboro, IN; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Gary and Karen Cutter, Ivan and Rita Cutter, Daryl and Sherri Cutter, and Rita and Floyd Stevens; along with many nephews, nieces and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Jeffery K. Lothridge, mother-in-law Helen L. Cutter, and niece Larisha M. Liter. Family and friends may call 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Meyers Funeral Home, 1150 State Road 46 E, Batesville, Indiana. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11:00am, by Pastor Pamela Theide, at the Meyers Funeral Home. Following the funeral services will be the Celebration of Life Gathering for family and friends at the Knights of St. John, 111 S. Vine Street, Batesville, Indiana. Rachel's wishes were for cremation. Memorials may be given to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Safe Passage, and St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bear Branch.
