Raymond Byrd, age 79, of New Castle IN, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at IU Ball Memorial in Muncie IN surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 6, 1945, in Clay County, KY, the son of the late Clay and Alzie (nee Sparks) Byrd.

He is survived by his loving wife Cindy Byrd; two sons Clinton (Mary) Byrd and Travis (Tammy) Byrd; five siblings Wanda (Lester) Staggs, Lillie Faye Drinnon, Carl (Cindy) Byrd, Charlie Byrd and sister-in-law Phyllis Byrd. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.

Ray was preceded in death by two sisters Kathleen Craycraft and Alpha Warren; brother Art Byrd and brother-in-laws, Bob Craycraft and Bobby Drinnon.

Ray was a member of New Point Christian Church in New Point IN and the Mason's organization. As a young man, he enjoyed riding his favorite horse (Stone Pone). As he got older his hobbies became finding treasures at antique shops and yard sales. Even then, you always found him in a cowboy hat!

After serving in the Navy, Ray had trained in school as a professional meat cutter and had retired after working in that field for many years.

Ray was loved by all who met him and will be greatly missed.  The family will be having a private graveside service.
