Obituary

Raymond Vogt, 65, of Flat, Texas, formerly of Batesville, Indiana, died peacefully Friday, July 19, 2013, at the VA Hospital in Temple, Texas. He was born to Melvin and Oda (Broughton) Vogt August 28, 1947. Raymond was a loyal Dallas Cowboys football fan and a movie buff. He attended Sunman High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. In 1966 he enlisted in the Army and served 2 tours in Vietnam then was honorably discharged in 1972. He formerly was a police officer in Batesville and a security officer at the Jefferson Proving Grounds. He also worked for Texas Instruments and Coca Cola in Temple, Texas. Raymond is survived by two children: Sherrie (Keith) Sheets of Flat, Texas and Eric (Wendy) Vogt of Gatesville, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his four brothers, Harold (Wanda) Vogt and Jerry (Glenda) Vogt, both of Batesville, Larry Vogt of Indianapolis, IN and Robert Vogt of Loveland, OH; along with his sister, Beverly (Francis) Lamping of Oldenburg, IN. In addition to numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 23 from 4-7pm at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, Indiana. Funeral services are Wednesday, 10am at Adams Lutheran Church, Batesville, IN with Pastor Roger Tornes officiating. Burial immediately following in church cemetery with military graveside rites. Memorial donations may be made to Adams Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund. Arrangements by Meyers Funeral Home.
