Richard E. Hersley, Sr., age 82 of Greensburg, IN passed away Thursday, November 03, 2011 at his home at Heritage House of Greensburg. Born August 21, 1929 in Greensburg, he was the son of the late Floyd & Ruth (Shafer) Hersley. He married Elizabeth Eva Glaub and she preceded him in death on Aug. 10, 2010. Richard was a US Army Veteran of WWII, a US Navy Veteran of Korea and member of the Bethal Apostolic Church in Greensburg. The retired plumber also worked for the New York Central Railroad for many years. Richard is survived by his children Rosalie (James) Smothers, Rebecca Lunsford, Carolyn (Rodney) Jacobs, Alice (James) White, William Hersley & Thomas (Kim) Hersley. He will also be missed by 20 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and siblings Joanne Hornaday, Diane Heath, Larry Hersley & Michael David Hersley. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son Richard Hersley Jr. and siblings Joyce Clark, Betty Lou Yorn, Edith Lock & John Hersley. Visitation will be Monday, November 7, 2011 from 1:30pm until time of service at 3:00pm all at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN with Glenn Seaman officiating. Burial will be in Rossburg Cemetery in New Point, In with Military Graveside rites. Memorials are suggested to the family c/o the funeral home.
