Obituary

Robert "Bob" John Hortemiller, age 65 passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019 at his home in Batesville, IN.  Born August 18, 1953 in Batesville he is the son of Paul & Agnes (Weisenbach) Hortemiller.  Bob retired from the city of Batesville after serving as Street Commissioner.

Bob is survived by his wife Betty (nee: Gunter) Hortemiller, sons Jonathan (Melissa), David (Julie), Thomas (Jennifer) & Kristopher (Lindsey) Hortemiller and his daughter Kimberly (Josh) Klingerman.  He will also be missed by his grandchildren Miriam, Claire, Robert, Benaiah with 3 more on the way and his siblings Bill Hortemiller, Marilyn Davis, Carolyn Dieckmann & Mary Beth Dickman.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW having served in Vietnam and Korea. Perhaps he would say it was fitting he passed away on D-Day as he was an avid military history buff. Bob enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and because "Sound of Music" was his favorite movie he would often sing "My Favorite Things" to them. He lived his life serving his family, his community and his Lord, beginning each day reading Psalm 34.

Visitation will be Monday, June 10, 2019 from 4-7pm at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN.  Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 10:00am at the funeral home with Curt Klingerman officiating.  Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery Napoleon, In. with military honors by the Ripley County VFW Post 3183 and Prell-Brand American Legion Post 271.  Memorials are suggested to Margaret Mary Hospice c/o the funeral home.
