Ronald J. Simons, age 67 of Batesville, IN passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. Born January 16, 1948 in Cincinnati, OH he was the son of John & Betty (Wehrman) Simons. Ron graduated from Moeller High School in 1966 where he played football and from Sullivan Culinary School in Louisville, KY. Ron was owner/operator of Ron Simons Co. for 35 years. He was a member of the US Army Reserves from 1968 to 1974 as a medic. On May 30, 1998 he married Beth Ollier at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads. Ron was president of the Batesville Public Memorial Library Trustees, treasure of Ripley County Voiture 40 & 8 and a member of Batesville United Methodist Church. Ron was an avid Reds fan and Colts season ticket holder. He was a passionate fisherman and boasted about being a duffer on the golf course. Ron was fond of a good cigar and enjoyed a fine bourbon with friends. He read more books than a library could hold. Ron could be found in the kitchen most days, showing off his culinary skills. Ron and Beth enjoyed traveling and recently fell in love with Scotland during a cruise of the British Isles. Ron is survived by his loving wife Beth Simons; children Sarah (Andy) Neukam, Gail Fehrman, Sam (Kylene) Simons and Scott (Mandi) Fehrman. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Shawn Neukam, Katie Neukam, Ayden Fehrman and Emma Fehrman along with his brother Eric Simons. Visitation will be Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 11am until time of memorial service at 3pm at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN with Pastor Jill Kepler-Campbell officiating. Military Honors will be held at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Ripley County Voiture 40 & 8 Nurses Scholarship Fund c/o the funeral home.
