Ruth Naomi (Whalbring) Thie, born February 16, 1942 in Osgood, Indiana, passed away on August 27, 2022 at St. Andrew's in Batesville. She was 80 years old and the daughter of the late August and Gladys (McClain) Whalbring. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin A. Thie, and her brother Harry Whalbring.

In life, Ruth was known to be tough, but sweet. One of her biggest joys was vacationing in Yellowstone with her beloved husband. She loved going out west. They made fond memories while there together. Not one to stay idle, Ruth enjoyed several hobbies. Her favorite pastimes included quilting, baking, and reading (mainly westerns and love stories).

Ruth leaves behind her daughter, Jennifer (Gerald) Huffmeyer of Batesville, IN; sons, John Thie of Greensburg, IN and Eric Thie Greensburg, IN; six grandchildren, Bridget (Eric) Linville of Oldenburg, IN, Montana Thie of Greensburg, IN, Rebecca (Evan) Bohlke of Batesville, IN, Sean Thie of Batesville, IN, Ashton (Shane) Akridge of Batesville, IN, Tim (Terri) Huffmeyer of Sunman, IN; four great-grandchildren, Aurora and Finn Linville, Teddy Bohlke, and Taylor Huffmeyer. She also leaves behind sisters, Mable Horton of Nashville, TN and Sue (Nelson) SantaAna of Riverview, FL, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Meyers Funeral Home. Funeral services officiated by Reverend Joey Feldman will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. John's United Church of Christ (Huntersville).

Memorials may be given to the Batesville Masonic Lodge #668 or St. John's UCC Sunday School Picnic Fund by bringing to services or mailing to Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 202, Batesville, IN 47006.
