Ruth Ann Westerman, age 74 of Osgood, Indiana passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at University Hospital in Cincinnati.  The daughter of Allen and Maxine (McCain) Adams was born on May 24, 1943 in Shelby County, Indiana.  On August 15, 1965 Ruth married Gene Westerman at the Lewis Creek Baptist Church in Shelby County.

In 1965 Ruth graduated from Waldron High School and went on to receive her teaching degree from Indiana State University and later her masters from Ball State University.  Ruth enjoyed teaching and after 41 years, she retired from Jac-Cen-Del Schools.  The Adams Lutheran Church member was involved in various service organizations.  She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Beta Psi and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association on a state and local level.

Ruth was a lover of life, family, and her friends. Her happiest moments were anytime she had a grandkid in her arms and cooking for her family get-togethers. She knew just about everybody and took an interest in what was going on in their lives. She was one of a kind and made an impact in all the lives she touched throughout the years as a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, teacher, mentor and friend. She will always be remembered for the truly wonderful person that she was.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Gene, her daughter and son-in-law Jennifer& Rodney Swinney of Osgood and three grandchildren, Dylan, Justin & Taylor Swinney along with her nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson Cody Swinney, her siblings Herb Adams, Edythe Cannon and Harold Adams and special nephew Philip Joseph Simon.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 5-8PM at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville.  Funeral Service is 11:00AM on Wednesday, October 11 ^th at Adams Lutheran Church, Batesville with burial to follow in the Adams Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Jac-Cen-Del Scholarship Foundation or the Indiana Children's Wish Fund c/o the funeral home.
