Shirley Mae Smith, age 73, Batesville, IN passed away suddenly Friday, April 24, 2009 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. The daughter of Edward & Margaret (Parsons) Tangman was born on May 11, 1935. On November 6, 1954 in Batesville, IN she married Wayne Smith. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker raising their three sons, a member of the St. Mark Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 271. The cancer survivor and avid reader, enjoyed living in the country watching the deer, birds and flowers around her. She is survived by her husband, two sons Randy and Lance (Sarah) Smith of Batesville, four grandchildren Raymond Wayne III, Colin Dennis, Abigail Margaret and Ella Mae Smith, along with one sister Wanda Litzinger of Batesville. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Raymond Wayne Smith Jr. Private services will be Tuesday, April 28, 2009, 11:00am at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN with Rev. David Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mark Lutheran Church Cemetery in Batesville.
