Terrance W. Richmond passed away surrounded by his family on Dec. 19th, 2010. He was born on July 23, 1947 in Batesville, Indiana to Marshall and Marcella (Peasley)Richmond. He graduated from Milan High School in 1967, and attended Butler University where he majored in pre-law and met the love of his life, Donna Jean Ingersoll. Terry married his sweetheart on June 21st, 1969 in Chicago, IL. He and Donna were inseparable thereafter. After attending Indiana University Law School and passing the bar exam, Terry returned to his hometown of Milan, IN to open a law practice. Though he practiced all kinds of law for his clients, Terry specialized in criminal defense, even arguing a number of death penalty cases as a public defender. Terry worked as a trainer and mentor for the Indiana Public Defender Council, and was an assistant Attorney General in the medical licensing department of the state of Indiana. He was a firm believer in the Constitution and spent his life defending justice and due process of the law. Terry was diagnosed with colon cancer in September, 2008. He fought valiantly against that pernicious disease with courage, dignity, and hope. While he eventually succumbed to cancer, his battle with the disease provided an example to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Donna Richmond and his daughter Aimee Rhoads, both of Federal Way, WA, and his son Justin Richmond of Potomac, MD. Terry also leaves his beloved granddaughter Rowan Rhoads who bears his blue eyes. Memorial Service for Terry will be Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 3:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Batesville Ward, 422 Township Line Rd., Batesville, IN. In lieu of flowers, Terry wished that donations be made to the Humane Society.
