Theresa J. Sitterding (nee Turner), age 88 years of Fort Myers, Fl died December 27, 2010 in Ft. Myers, FL. She was born December 31, 1921 to Roy & Hessie Turner of Laurel, MS. Theresa graduated from South Mississippi Charity Hospital School of Nursing on August 21, 1943 and married J. Kenneth Sitterding on August 25, 1943. She moved to Batesville, IN while her husband completed his service in WWII. During this period, she was an OR Supervisor at Margaret Mary Hospital and gave training in Red Cross for survival in case of an attack. After the war, she worked for Dr. Hisrich. Later, she & her family moved to Linton, IN where she worked at Greene County Hospital as an RN. She also worked at General Electric and Rest Haven Nursing Home. She attained a certificate in Respiratory Therapy in 1970 and started the Respiratory Therapy Department at Greene County General Hospital. Theresa belonged to many health related organizations as well as the Eastern Stars and Daughters of the Nile. She was a devoted nurse, loving mother and wife. Theresa is survived by her son James K. Sitterding, brother and sister-in-law Richard & Marilyn Sitterding, sister-in-law June Lakey and many nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband J. Kenneth Sitterding, son Jeffery Sitterding & brother Roy Turner. A memorial service was held at Calusa Harbour in Ft. Myers, FL immediately following her death. A memorial service will be held at St. John United Church of Christ Huntersville on May 28, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. David Johnston officiating. Her ashes will be buried alongside her husband and son in the St. Mark's Cemetery.
