Velma Mary Dieckmann, age 83 years of Batesville, IN passed away Sunday, August 20, 2006 in Batesville. Born June 13, 1923 in Napoleon, IN she was the daughter of the late Ernest & Bertha (Richter) Schutte. She married Alvin Dieckmann on August 10, 1946 at Adams Lutheran Church. Mrs. Dieckmann retired from Hill-Rom and was a member of St. John UCC (Huntersville). Mrs. Dieckmann is survived by her children Carol McPherson of Batesville, IN; Susan Fischer of Sullivan, WI and John Dieckmann of Batesville, IN; grandchildren Nathan & Drew Dieckmann, Ivan Steve McPherson, Carrie Oppelt & Mandy Hurst; great grandchildren Malakai & Karly McPherson, Bailey & Brady Meyer & Gretchen Oppelt; sisters Dorothy Kopps of Richmond, IN; Mildred Endicott of Joplin, MO & Patsy Hornberger of Penntown, IN; brothers Robert Schutte of Harrison, OH; Kenneth Schutte of Cherry Hill, NJ; Charles Schutte of O'Fallon, IL & Wallace Schutte of Kalamazoo, MI. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Raymond, Melvin & Ernest Jr. Schutte. Visitation will be Wed. Aug. 23, 2006 from 1-3 PM followed by services at 3:00 P.M. all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, IN with Rev. David Johnston officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Cancer Research.
