Virgil Emanuel Mossburger, age 92 of Harrison, OH passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Hospice of Hamilton in Hamilton, OH. Born March 25, 1920 in Mill Shoals, IL he was the son of William Columbus & Carrie Evelyn (Hutchcraft) Mossburger. The WWII Army Veteran from 1941 to 1947 and lifetime member of the Harrison American Legion Post 199 married Elizabeth Leonard on December 28, 1945 in Hopkinsville, KY. He retired from the Federal Government as a Meat Inspector for the Department of Agriculture & Inspection Service. Virgil was the loving husband of Betty Mossburger and loving father of Roger (Mary Alice) Mossburger of Sierra Vista, AZ, Dave (Debby) Mossburger of Harrison, OH, Steve Mossburger of W. Harrison, IN, Keith Mossburger of Harrison, OH, Lisa (David) Weinel of Fountain Inn, SC, Kevin Mossburger of Lawrenceburg, IN, Jeff Mossburger of North Bend, OH & Amy Simpson of Cheviot, OH. He will also be missed by 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and his sisters Bernadine Watson, Mina Huey, Mary Holmes, Hester Harl & Eva Marvel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Everett & Charles Mossburger as well as 2 infant brothers. He loved everything that had to do with nature and animals. His family recalled the times when he trimmed the bushes; he worried about disturbing the bird and rabbit nests. He loved feeding the birds and squirrels. They referred to him as an 'amateur naturalist'. He will be sadly missed by his many friends, family and his beloved cat "Puddy". Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hamilton c/o the funeral home.
