Virginia Marie Laker, age 93 of Batesville, IN passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. Born August 19, 1917 in Franklin County, IN she was the daughter of the late Herman & Kathryn (Vonderheide) Harmeyer. She married Richard Laker on May 6, 1939 at St. Mary's of the Rock Church in St. Mary, IN and he preceded her on August 1, 2004. She was a homemaker & did house cleaning. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the Knights of St. John Ladies Auxiliary. She loved bingo, fishing and made many quilts. Virginia is survived by her daughters Joan Woodman of North Branford, CT, Marianne Freese of Cincinnati, OH & Alice Robb of Goodrich, MI and sons Dennis Laker of Phoenixville, PA and Ron Laker of Tampa, FL. She will also be missed by 16 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Lori Robb, sisters Loretta Wallpe, Rosella Hartman, & Florence Hartman and brother Edward Harmeyer and 4 other siblings who died as infants and Daughter in law Veronica Laker. Visitation will be Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 5-8pm with a prayer service at 7:30 at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11:00am at St. Louis Catholic Church with Father Stephen Akange officiating. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery, Batesville, IN.
