Virginia Ann Gruenloh, age 96 of Batesville, IN passed away Thursday morning, February 13, 2014 at the Heritage House in Greensburg, IN. The daughter of Frank & Elsie (Schulte) Reiss was born on September 1, 1917 in Cincinnati, OH. She married George Gruenloh on February 20, 1943 in Cincinnati. Virginia was a member of Batesville United Methodist Church.
Virginia wore many hats in her lifetime. Along with being a housewife and homemaker, she was a Girl Scout Leader, worked as a secretary at Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville United Methodist Church and for the Secret Service. Virginia also worked at the Gibson Theatre, was in the Batesville School Corportation PTA and she and her husband were instrumental in getting the Batesville Music & Arts Festival started in town.
Virginia is survived by her daughters Tina (Jim) Noonan of Indianapolis, IN and Donna (Steve) Macke of Batesville, IN. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Kaitlynn Linville, Tyler Macke & Andrew Noonan and her great grandchildren Michael Linville and Gavin Linville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Carroll Reiss.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 5-7pm at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Funeral Services will be Monday, February 17, 2014 at 10:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Dimick officiating. Burial will follow services at Batesville United Methodist Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Assoc. or Batesville Fire & EMS c/o the funeral home.
