William H. Westerman, age 81 years of Sunman, IN passed away Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Born August 8, 1923 in Lookout, IN he was the son of the late Henry & Lulu (Rheinhardt) Westerman. He was married to Loretta Gillman at St. Peters Church in St. Peters, IN on May 10, 1947, she died Jan. 10, 1990. He then married Margie Denny on July 6, 1991 at St. Jacobs United Church of Christ at Blue Creek. He was a medic in the US Army during WWII and retired from Seagram's in Lawrenceburg, IN in 1985. He attended St. John United Church of Christ in Penntown, IN and was a member of the American Legion at St. Leon, IN and the V.F.W. in Batesville, IN. Mr. Westerman is survived by his wife Margie Westerman, sons William C. Westerman of Sunman, IN, Dennis Westerman of Brookville, IN and Melvin Westerman of Sunman, IN; daughters Mary E. Knopfle of Cross Creek, FL and Doris Andre of Sunman, IN; step daughter Kathy Gaynor of Dover, IN and stepsons Bruce Denni of Batesville, IN and Matthew Denni of Washington State. He will also be missed by his 6 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and 6 step grandchildren; brother Henry Westerman of Batesville, IN; sisters Luella Meyer and Leona Davis both of Batesville, IN. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was also preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 3, 2005 from 4-8PM at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, IN and Wednesday, May 4, 2005 from 9:30-10 AM at St. John United Church of Christ in Penntown, IN. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. John United Church of Christ in Penntown with Pastor Craig Amlin officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be in St. Peter Church Cemetery in St. Peter, IN. Memorials are suggested to Sunman Rescue 20 or St. Peter Church Cemetery.
